Apex Game Management: from school hockey scores to the platform that runs the league.
Apex started as a way to get school hockey scores out of group chats. It now runs club leagues and school tournaments across four sports, with an iPhone app that puts every result, table, and alert in fans' pockets.

Problem
The match lived everywhere except one place.
School and club sport in Zimbabwe ran on WhatsApp groups, paper score sheets, and spreadsheets passed between organisers. League tables were calculated by hand, and parents and fans waited on a chat thread to find out the score.
Approach
Start with one sport, then run the whole season.
We launched with live hockey scores, then built what organisers kept asking for: fixtures, league tables that update themselves, tournament formats, a proper match-day console, and an app for the people following along. Each sport got its own rules rather than a lowest-common-denominator scoreboard.
One platform for the people who run the game
and the people who follow it.
01
Competition engine
Leagues, groups, and knockouts with sport-specific rules: round robin into a top 2, 4, or 8 knockout, cross-seeded semis, shootouts, and tiebreaks the organiser chooses.
02
Match-day console
One operator runs the clock, periods, timeouts, goals, and cards for each sport, corrects mistakes, and reviews the result before it goes public.
03
Native iPhone app
Follow teams and competitions, get alerts for kick-off, lineups, goals, cards, and results, and track a match live on the Lock Screen or a Home Screen widget.
04
League administration
Clubs, schools, teams, rosters, and player stats, with spreadsheet bulk upload and access scoped to what each admin actually runs.
05
Public results site
Live scores, fixtures, tables, and player stats on the web, filtered by sport and safe to share — no private player details exposed.
06
Four sports
Field hockey, water polo, football, and rugby, each with its own periods, clock, and scoring rules.
Running real leagues today.
Apex runs the Harare Hockey League divisions, the Summer Series, and indoor hockey, plus inter-school water polo trophies. Results land on the web and the iPhone app the moment the final whistle goes.
